| In my opinion it's NVIDIA all the way. You're going to get a helluva card for that kind of money so be careful you don't overspend on the GPU if your main CPU is then going to be the bottleneck. I just purchased a EVGA GT 240 superclocked for $109 and have a rebate which is like $20 off... I did that because this is an upgrade to my 3yr old computer. I'm running a Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz which is just above the minimum for the game. I'd like to be purchasing a better GPU but it just didn't make much sense because I'm not going to pour money into it. I'll look for a good deal and you can compare what you come up with. |

the 260 is an excellent card... the problem with going with radion is that their MEMORY BIT INTERFACE is very small compared to nvidia cards.... what does this mean to you?
well thing of it this way.... you have 1 gig of ram on a card... all the information you pass to this ram is done so in bits. so if you have to do this in small increments you have a bottle neck. Ati is trying to shove a bowling ball through a straw while nvidia is shoving a potato through an exhaust pipe.. granted the potato is still bigger than the pipe but you get alot more info through at a time making nvidias cards faster. Nvidia does a lot more with its parts than ati does with parts that technically are faster.
thats the gtx 260 vs the ati 5770... unless your looking to spend 400+ and you can get the best cards their are but i still choose nvidia. |

I agree Nvidia cards are good
I use the GTX 275FTW edition and have no problems.
I know the 275 FTW works with Solidworks, but is not listed as a supported card.
Workstation cards are really different animals from gaming cards so findin a balance is keys.
Do some google searches for catia and GTX260 and see what you get |

Depends on the specs of the rest of your system
What type of processor do you have.
I am asking because if you have a lower end cpu getting a better graphics card may just move the bottleneck in your system from one place to the next. so in that case a 250 or 240 may fit the ticket nicely and cheaper.
Ask knuckles what he just bought and what type of CPU he has and go from there. |

Tribal try turning you AA and AF setting down a bit
I don't think you will notice the difference at all and I am positive you see more frame rates.
I set my AA so I can see smooth edges and no jagged anywhere. |
